Event Details

ASEAN 2024 will explore how NZ business can leverage the extensive goodwill we enjoy within the South East Asian markets and accelerate our engagement with an economic community of almost 700 million increasingly prosperous consumers. Trade in both goods and services with ASEAN is increasing and it constantly competes with the EU for NZ's biggest trading region. With the ASEAN - New Zealand 50th Anniversary next year there is increasing emphasis on business with this exciting region.

The ASEAN NZ Business Council, with strategic partner AUT University, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and supporting partner Asia New Zealand Foundation are pleased to bring you our annual conference, the ASEAN Forum.

This year we'll hear from businesses who have thrived from trading with Southeast Asia, as well as hearing from ASEAN-based businesses as well. The Forum provides an opportunity for New Zealand businesses to hear from keynote speakers on future directions and issues, while also learning about and discussing opportunities in this dynamic region.

New Zealand businesses must look ahead to find new opportunities to further grow and develop as 2024 will undoubtedly bring a new wave of economic challenges. ASEAN as a significant and geographically close trading partner presents huge potential that has not yet been fully unlocked by New Zealand. ASEAN nations are eager for New Zealand businesses to contact them and the Forum aims to highlight these opportunities.

Why attend?

Attendees at this wide ranging Forum will learn about…

● ASEAN's place in the changing global world

● Opportunities arising from ASEAN's current needs and ambition to be self-sufficient

● The digital drivers specific to ASEAN and those connecting to NZ business

● The opportunities for NZ business to engage with the diverse ASEAN diaspora in NZ

● The practical tools to be more effective in ASEAN

● Overcoming barriers to trade, especially for SMEs

    Grant Wisnewski

GM SALES & OPERATIONS - ASIA PACIFIC at Waikato Milking Systems

    https://waikatomilking.com/

Grant joined the company in 2014 and has worked hard to champion our diverse range of technology, to meet the expectations of a dynamic international dairy industry. He has a background in dairy farming and has an exceptional understanding of global markets. He knows that products made for New Zealand conditions may not suit other markets.

That is why Grant has worked closely with our research and development team to make sure our product offering matches the expectations and conditions of each of our key global markets. That included making modifications to our milking and plant systems to suit 24-hour farming operations which are extensive in key markets such as US, Russia, China and the UK. A major part of the company’s business growth success has been its ability to act swiftly, to ensure our customers receive a product that is reliable, robust and high performing, no matter where in the world they are. Grant believes it’s this can-do attitude, throughout the company, which saw Waikato Milking Systems win the Auckland/Waikato Supreme Exporter of the Year Award in 2016. Grant draws upon his experience working for an international business for more 25 years, to successfully manage the company’s global sales team, helping them achieve their required results. He lives in New Zealand but manages to move around the globe to spend quality time with his sales team and his dealer network at key times of the year. Developing the company’s dealer network is a top priority and Grant makes the time to interview potential partners for the business in new and emerging markets. He knows that dealers are the life blood of the company and dealer expansion is critical to its business growth.
