Happy New Year and Welcome to 2023!


ANZBC, in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) and New Zealand Trade & Enterprise (NZTE), is delighted to bring you our first event for 2023 - Market Event on Indonesia.


Guest speakers H.E Kevin Burnett, New Zealand's Ambassador to Indonesia, and Diana Permana, New Zealand's Trade Commissioner to Indonesia, will provide us with an overview of the outlook on Indonesia, key developments, market trends and opportunities, as well as the implications on New Zealand trade and business interests in to Indonesia.


We will also hear from two business speakers - Steve Vincent, Jacob's Head of Sector - Energy and Power Asia, Indonesia and Philippines Country Manager, and Paul Oei, MD of Igenz, will share with us their experience and learnings of doing business in Indonesia, and some of the opportunities and challenges of doing business in this ASEAN market.


This hybrid event will be moderated by Mike Atkins, Head of Trade Window, ASB Bank, and there will be two opportunities during the session to ask your questions to the speakers.

    Kevin Burnett is the New Zealand Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia. He took up his post in September 2021.
    Before his appointment as Ambassador to Indonesia, Kevin was the Consul General in Hawai’i and non-resident Ambassador to the North Pacific States of the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Republic of Palau.
    Kevin has experience across several public sector agencies. He has held roles in the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice. Kevin joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2015 and was appointed as the Chief of Staff. In 2019 Kevin undertook a secondment to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as the Principal Adviser to the Chief Executive. Before joining the public sector, Kevin completed 35 years’ service as an officer in the New Zealand Army.
    Kevin is married to Catherine and they have three adult sons.

    Trade Commissioner at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE)

    Diana Permana is New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner to Indonesia, based in Jakarta.

    Diana joined NZTE in November 2013 as a business development manager focused on the renewable energy, aviation, and specialised manufacturing sectors.

    Prior to joining NZTE, Diana worked with Commonwealth Bank in Jakarta for 2 years banking experience managing fresh funds and customer’s investment portfolios and also as business development manager for 8 years in the Australian Trade Commission in Jakarta.

    Her key role was managing the infrastructure, building & construction, Private Public Partnership development program and renewable energy development portfolios for the Indonesian market.

    Diana obtained her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration majoring in Marketing from Upper Iowa University in Singapore.

Steve has been involved in major asset development and key business activities in Indonesia for over 13 years and has held a range of management and lead engineering roles for significant power projects, water supply assets, and large industrial plants around the world. As Jacobs’ Indonesia Country manager, Steve leads senior management engagement with our key clients in all sectors and leads strategic consultancy works for key local organizations. Originally from New Zealand, Steve has worked in Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines and Nicaragua, as well as delivering work for installations in the United States, Kenya, Chile, UK, Turkey, China, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Oman.

    Managing Director of Igenz

    Paul is one of the founding directors of IGENZ. His specific expertise is in cancer genetics and in particular the use of FISH on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections for the diagnosis, prognosis and predictive assessment of malignancy. He was involved in the Human Genetics Society of Australasia/Australasian Society of Cytogeneticists first document on Measurement of Uncertainty and is Deputy Examiner for the Fellowship of Science (FSc) Anatomical Pathology speciality. He is also part of the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia (RCPA) Anatomical Pathology working group developing training competencies in the area of genetic pathology.
